Terms of use
Read the site, use the games, quote us with a link. What follows is the rest of it, including the part where we remind you that we are not your vet.
Agreeing to these terms
Dog Brain Lab is a website at dogbrainlab.com, operated by Clark Media (Australia). By using it you accept the terms on this page. If you do not accept them, the remedy is simple and free: stop using the site.
This is information, not professional advice
Everything published here is general information about dog enrichment, training games and behavior. It is not veterinary advice, not a diagnosis, and not a substitute for a professional who can actually see your dog.
We are not vets and we do not employ any. We are not certified behaviorists, and we do not invent one to put a name on an article. Please talk to a vet or a qualified behavior professional if your dog shows any of the following:
- aggression toward people or other animals, including growling, snapping or biting
- resource guarding of food, toys, beds or people
- separation distress, panic when left alone, or self-injury
- a sudden change in behavior, appetite, energy or toilet habits
- signs of pain, illness or injury of any kind
Sudden behavior changes are a medical question until a vet says otherwise. No article, ours included, should delay that appointment.
No guaranteed results
Dogs are individuals. What a game does for one dog is not what it does for the next one, and training outcomes depend on the dog, the household, the handler, and above all on whether the sessions actually happen. Nothing on this site is a promise that a particular game, method or paid program will fix a particular problem.
Where we describe a product, we say plainly whether we have run it with a dog or only researched it. Where research supports a claim, we cite the research and keep the hedges that the research itself keeps.
Using the games safely
The activities we describe are ordinary household enrichment, and they still carry ordinary household risk. Supervise your dog. Do not leave a dog alone with anything they could shred and swallow, and that includes cardboard, plastic bottles and cheap puzzle toys. Watch for choking hazards with small items and small dogs, mind the calories when a game runs on treats, and stop a session if your dog is frustrated, sore or overtired.
You know your dog and we do not. Using anything from this site is your decision and your responsibility.
What we publish and what you may do with it
The words, illustrations, layouts, photographs and code on this site belong to Clark Media unless a page says otherwise, and are protected by copyright.
You are welcome to read it, print a page for your own use, and quote a short passage in an article, forum post or video as long as you credit Dog Brain Lab and link to the page you took it from. Republishing whole articles, rewriting them into near copies, or scraping the site in bulk is not something we license, and we will ask for those to come down. If you want to use something in a way this paragraph does not cover, just ask.
Links to other sites
We link out constantly, to research, veterinary bodies, kennel clubs and vendors. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their products, their prices or their privacy practices. A link is a citation or a route to buy something, not a warranty of what is on the other end.
Some outbound links are affiliate links and earn us a commission. They are labelled on the page, and the full explanation is on the affiliate disclosure.
Availability
The site is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. We do not promise it will be available without interruption, free of errors, or accurate forever. Prices, product details and third-party policies in particular go out of date, which is why we tell you to check the current figures at the source before buying anything.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Clark Media and Dog Brain Lab are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of this site or from anything you decided to do because of it. That includes decisions about training, enrichment, products and purchases.
Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under the consumer law that applies where you live, and nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site grows. The effective date at the top of the page tells you when the current version took effect, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated version.
